The American Red Cross Tsunami Recovery Program (TRP) had been established to direct the organization’s response to the South Asia tsunami disaster. The TRP activities focus on integrated community recovery and preparedness interventions in tsunami affected countries in Asia and East Africa in collaboration with Red Cross and non-Red Cross partners. The Indonesia TRP Delegation operates from offices in Banda Aceh, Calang, Lamno. It also has liaison offices in Jakarta, and other areas in Aceh province in collaboration with the Indonesian Red Cross.

Driving Instructor
(Aceh - Banda Aceh)



Responsibilities:

* Prepare teaching materials, tests, and outlines for courses
* Deliver lectures and presentations, execute practical driving tests
* Teach driving and hazard prevention (defense and offense driving)
* Advise on control of the vehicles in different driving conditions (rain, long journey, mountain roads, crowded streets, straight highway)
* Advise on vehicle limitations such as braking times, steering capacity, and collision results
* Spend time with each driver to assess current driving abilities and work with them to improve their driving techniques and ability
* Ensure that drivers are aware of local and national driving laws
* Recommend additional training as necessary
* Documents training and keep notes of observation
* Provides a fair and accurate evaluation to all drivers

Requirements:

* Be a capable teacher/trainer/mentor with plenty of patience and ingenuity
* At least 5 years of driving experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of training and experience
* Have 4 years or more of driving instructor experience
* Has a good driving record
* Has skills and ability to recognize good drivers
* Good organizational and communication skills
